“For we live by believing, not by seeing”~ 2Corinthians 5:7 (NLT).
I love the scripture above. The NIV version says we live by faith not by sight. I like the NLT version because sometimes it really boils down to what we believe; especially during those seasons in your life where everything around you seems to be failing. A time when your circumstances are saying something completely different than what you believe, than what God’s word tells you. If we allow what we see around us to dictate how we live, boy what an unstable life that would be! The good news about living by faith, by our belief in God is that His truth and promises are more real than the capacity of our circumstances. The truth is we are loved by a mighty God who will see us through whatever we face. A God that promises to work everything out for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). It is with 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NLT) that I selected this week’s song -“I Still Believe” by Jeremy Camp.
The words that touch my heart are:
“I still believe in your Faithfulness"
“I still believe in your Truth"
“I still believe in your Holy Word”
“Even when I can’t see, I still believe”
I am learning a lot about focus, more importantly who/what to focus on in hard times – God. Instead of focusing on all that is wrong, troubling, or painful, focus on who God is, who He says you are, His character, & His promises. Sometimes we have to in the mist of our pain, hardship, and all out attack; open our mouths and say I still believe! Even when I can’t see, I still believe!
