Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own
understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to
take. ~Proverbs3:5-6 (NLT)
This is a scripture that I have known for years, one that I have recited often. Today it is a scripture that I firmly stand on as I move through life’s ups and downs. Life can get difficult, overwhelming, and downright messy. Even believers go through times of confusion and difficulty but God tells us what to do in Proverbs 3:5-6.
You know, Webster defines trust as the assurance/reliance on the character, strength, ability, and truth of someone or something. That definition brings this scripture to life for me. God is telling me to be assured and rely on His:
- Character- who he is – The sovereign God, provider, healer, etc
- Strength – He is mighty & powerful
- Ability – He is able to do exceedingly above all I can ask or think
- Truth – His love, grace, and His gift of redemption – Jesus
God is telling us in Proverbs 3:5-6, to trust His character, strength, ability, and truth instead of what we understand (or not). He wants us to acknowledge Him in every area of our life and seek His will in all we do because He cares about it all! He then promises to direct our steps, God promises to be our navigational system- our GPS. That is good news friends! I don’t know what season you are in, what difficulties you may be facing, but I do know we serve a loving God and if we put our trust in Him, he will not fail us!
