“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
A couple of Sundays ago I heard a sermon by Jerry Seville and a particular statement he made stood out to me:
“Become more sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit” ~ Jerry Seville
That sentence is still speaking to me! There are so many decisions to be made in our everyday lives and I would love to have the guidance and leadership of God as I make each one. The part that really stood out to me was the “become more sensitive” portion of his statement. It really made me stop and think, I had to ask myself – Am I really sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit? He is constantly there, always wanting and willing to lead but am I aware? Am I listening? Am I sensitive to Him? The honest answer was not as much as I should be!
My life can be busy and challenging at times and not to mention full of distractions. If I am not careful, my awareness of God’s leadership and prompts in my everyday life can dwindle. But this statement and Psalms 37:23 has prompted me to take the time to position myself to hear clearly from God and to be more sensitive to the leadership of the Holy spirit regardless of life’s demands. Psalms 37:23 tells me that God delights himself in every detail of my life. He wants to be a part of all the decisions, all of the mundane demands of my life.
So this week I am purposefully taking the time to seek God’s leadership and begin to train myself to be more sensitive to all of the promptings and directions of my Lord! What are you focusing on this week? What are you doing on purpose? I would love to hear about it.
