“Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man.
am willing” he said “Be Clean” And immediately the leprosy left Him”
Luke 5:13 -NIV
In Luke 5:12-16, the bible tells us of the time Jesus heals a man with leprosy. I have heard/read this truth over and over but the last time I read it something stuck out to me. In verse 12 the man with Leprosy asked Jesus “If you are willing you can make me clean”. The interesting thing to me is the man did not question Jesus ability to heal him, just His willingness. That truth practically slapped me in the face because I do this often. You see, the Bible tells us consistently of God’s ability, we all know He is capable of things way beyond our capacity to understand. We all believe He is able to heal, deliver, save, provide, etc but sometimes we struggle with believing He is willing to do it for us.
I realized my faith is strong in the area of God’s ability, Ephesians 3:20 tells us He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think. However, my struggle is connecting that truth to little ole me. Have you ever felt that way? You trust and believe God’s ability to be and do all He has promised; you even believe and pray it for others but when it comes to you – uhh not so much.
I love Jesus response to the man in Luke 5::13 – “I am willing…Be clean”. I needed to hear/read that I needed to realize where my faith was weak and begin to connect God’s willingness and ability in my life. Now don’t get me wrong, I know there may be things that I “want” in life that God knows will destroy me or is not right for me at the time and out of His tremendous love for me he will not do it. However I am not talking about those things, I am talking about God’s promises - deliverance, provision, fellowship with Him, etc. He is always willing to manifest His promises in my life and yours.
So, this week I am meditating on God’s love for me, His willingness to be what I need, and to manifest His promises. I know God is able and now I know He is willing, Do you?
