As a social worker, I am trained to be self aware. I also teach my students the importance of self awareness & evaluation in the Social Work profession. I think it is a tool everyone can benefit from. A periodic review of your life and your heart can be challenging but extremely beneficial, I definitely recommend it. I was praying and having an evaluative moment of my own, just pondering my life when Live Like That, a song by Sidewalk Prophets, came on. It is a great song expressing a desire to live for God. Now before I continue, let me tell you I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe God is a purposeful God and that song came on at a pivotal moment in my life. I was telling God how much I love him and asking him to show me how to live when the words embedded throughout the song deeply touched/answered me.
The words that touch my heart are:
“Am I proof that you are who you say you are?
“Do I live like your love is true?”
"Is there evidence that I’ve been changed?”
“When they see me do they see you?”
"I want to live like that & give it all I have so that
everything I say or do points to you”
Those words flooded my heart and required me to be honest about my life in its current state. I had to ask myself do I really live like God’s love is true. How do I want to live and who do I want to live for? Have you asked yourself that question? Do you know how you want to live? At that moment I made a quality decision to really live for God without fear. I really want Christ to shine through me, for my faith in God to be more than just lip service, for my life to speak louder than my words. I stated once before in a previous post, if I could never ever speak another word, what would my life say? Friends take a moment, listen to the song, go before the lord, and ask yourself - do you want to live like that? As for me & my house – we will live like that!
